Responding to the announcement today that wholesale broadband migration charges are to fall to £11 the Broadband Industry Group said:

"We welcome the fall in IPStream to DataStream migration charges. The Broadband Industry Group members have been pressing for a reduction in wholesale migration charges for 10 months and are pleased that one of the many steps needed for the creation of a genuinely competitive wholesale broadband market has been taken"

"Nevertheless it will have little significance without a fair wholesale margin and efficient bulk and individual migration processes. This margin won't be announced by Ofcom until the end of May - twelve months after Oftel first published its Wholesale Broadband Access Market Review. The Group will only truly recognise success when a level regulatory playing field that allows real wholesale competition is achieved."
